| Katy’s Report Part 1: International Competitions 2005 |
|
Last year I spend about 6 months training for the International competitions in the summer.
The 2005 World Youth Championships were in August and held in Beijing, China. It was an amazing trip, such a good experience and a great team of people went out there to represent GB. The two days of qualifiers went really well. I came 10th & 11th on each route, which meant I qualified for the Semi-finals in 11th overall. The Semis were on the third day and involved spending five hours in isolation. In the end I finished 21st, which I was not too pleased about!
The next international competition was an EYC (European Youth Cup) in Switzerland where you have both your qualifiers on the first day followed by the finals on the second. I had a bad first day so didn’t make the finals.
