The ISM have announced that their website www.alpin-ism.com is now fully updated with 2009 activities. There are loads of courses on offer for anyone who loves the mountains, whether that' s technical climbing, classical mountaineering, alpine trekking or touring the Alps on ski.

The forthcoming season is of course WINTER ICE climbing, with Ice Blaster Long Weekends in early January and full-week courses from mid-January onwards.

ImageSUMMER COURSES. ISM have introduced several new courses/modified itineraries for next summer. One of these is 'Alpine Rock – Skills and Classic Climbs'; another is a 5-day programme in the Bernese Oberland, touring the highest and most famous summits over 5 days. For keen trekkers they have introduced a new version of the Matterhorn Trek, combining the best alpine trekking with two superb summits.

EXPEDITIONS. The ANDES SUMMITS trip in early June has a new itinerary with the classic peak Copa (6188m) as their objective in the second half of the expedition. As always ISM are heading to the TIEN SHAN at the end of August for 3 weeks, to a stunning area called Kuilu.

The “RECESSION”. The reduced value of the pound against the Swiss franc has had its effect, and the pound is forecast to fall further. ISM may have to adjust certain course prices at some point, however they are making a PRICE PROMISE to their clients – there will be no increases or surcharges once a course has been booked. Remember that ISM course prices are ALL INCLUSIVE so you will be shielded from any increases to the cost of your holiday once the booking has been made.
